How to Apply

Application and Acceptance Process

1. Submit your application. Be prepared to share what Fellows will gain from their experience, describe direct and indirect activities.
2. Applications will be reviewed by a committee. Provisional acceptance letters will go out three weeks after the application deadline.
3. Upon provisional acceptance, you will be asked to submit the following:
   • Position descriptions
   • Additional requirements required by your organization (e.g., background checks, testing requirements, etc.)
   • Signed MOU 
   • Site locations and supervisors
4. Once all of these items are submitted, you will receive final acceptance.

We aim to provide a list of Fellows to their respective community partners by August. Fellows usually begin their service the third week of September. 

Eligibility and Criteria

Eligible community partners for the UC Davis College Corps program must be a nonprofit organization or government agency able to:

• Supervise two or more Fellows providing 12-15 hours of service each week in at least one of the priority areas (K-12 education, food security, and climate action).
• Service with the community partner should largely be direct service (see descriptions below).
• Participate in required training. Each training will be approximately five hours, and are tentatively set for August 6, 14, and 22 in 2024. All supervisors are required to attend.
• Provide data regarding community outputs and outcomes.
• Comply with AmeriCorps grant requirements.

College Corps Fellows are required to complete a total of 450 hours of service during the 10-month program. Because fellows are enrolled in a course (considered indirect or training hours), we estimate that fellows will need to complete 360 hours with their community partner. This translates to 12-15 hours with your organization. Service with your organization can be a mix of direct and indirect service, and should be predominately in-person.

Direct service generally refers to activities that provide a direct, measurable benefit to an individual, a group, or a community. This can be tutoring, mentoring, outreach, delivering training, serving or packaging food, planting a garden or trees, treating trails or rivers, and so much more! Examples are listed below for each focus area. At least 80% of the Fellows’ time must be direct service.

Indirect service hours include education and training. Your fellows can use this time to learn more about your organization or focus area, and/or research relevant topics that support their work and your organization.
