About UC Davis College Corps

UC Davis is proud to be selected for the #CaliforniansForAll College Corps program. A key element of this program is YOU: local community-based organizations and government agencies who host student Fellows during the academic year.

Funded by California Volunteers, Office of the Governor, the California College Corps initiative has three goals:

  • engage college students in meaningful service to build leadership and civic responsibility;
  • promote academic success and economic well being with students from diverse backgrounds; and
  • to support the work of community-based organizations in three priorities: K-12 education, climate action, and food insecurity.

How to Partner with the UC Davis College Corps

We invite organizations that work in K-12 education, food insecurity, and climate action to apply to be a host site for the 2024–2025 academic year. Eligibility and examples of activities for each priority area are listed below.

To learn more about becoming a community partner, register to attend an information session.

As a community partner, you will ensure fellows meet service requirements while learning practical skills and interacting directly with your programs’ beneficiaries. Fellows must complete 375 hours of direct service with their assigned organization (roughly 12 to 15 hours per week).

Fellows will begin their service in September 2024 and complete their service year on or around May 2025. Each Fellow will receive a living allowance of $7,000 and an education award at the end of the service year, paid for by the College Corps grant. Please visit our student application page for more information about the Fellows.

Focus Area Examples

K-12 Education

Direct service in this area is intended to support learning loss and barriers to learning due to the pandemic. Members will engage in tutoring, mentoring, family involvement, and classroom teaching/support.

Food Security

Direct service that supports food security will engage in activities that provide food/nutrition support, food production, community/school gardens, food recovery, food literacy, and coaching, education, and/or training in these areas.

Climate Action

Climate action service opportunities will engage in activities that counter the adverse human impact on climate change through education and civic engagement. This can include tree planting, fire and flood mitigation, debris removal, education/training in environmental stewardship, and weatherization.

If you have questions or would like to learn more, we encourage you to attend one of the information sessions or email Moira Delgado at madelgado@ucdavis.edu.
